Overview

China Steps is a local-first travel helper. We do not collect or upload personal information by default. Content you create or save remains on your device.

Information Stored on Your Device

Your profile name, avatar, saved scenarios, saved phrases, recent phrase history, Mandarin speech speed preference, custom phrase source text, and custom phrase translations are stored locally using built-in app storage and the app sandbox.

China Steps does not require an account and does not integrate advertising, analytics, tracking, booking, payment, real-time map, or AI chat services.

Custom Phrase Translation

On supported iOS versions, China Steps uses Apple's system Translation framework when you actively add or retranslate a custom English phrase. China Steps does not operate its own translation server and does not retain a server-side copy of the source or translated text.

How Local Information Is Used

• Personalize the Me page.
• Show saved and recently used phrases.
• Search bundled and custom phrase content on device.
• Display, copy, and play custom phrase translations.
• Remember the selected Mandarin speech speed.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer personal information to third parties. China Steps does not upload locally stored profile, favorite, recent, search, or custom phrase data to developer-operated servers.

Your Control and Data Retention

You can edit or remove profile information, favorites, and custom phrases inside the app. Local information remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.

Security

Local information is protected by iOS security, device encryption, and the app sandbox. No method of storage is completely risk-free, so keep your device passcode and operating system current.

Children's Privacy

China Steps is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The latest version will be published at this URL and identified by its update date.
